Free badminton is proving a smash hit at centres around Glasgow.

Young people aged 11 to 18 are enjoying free evening sessions at venues across the city.

Fun sessions are available at the ARC (Ashgill Recreation Centre) in Milton on Tuesdays from 4pm to 6pm; Wyndford HUB on Fridays from 7pm to 9pm; Martyr’s Church, Townhead, on Fridays from 7pm to 9pm; Cranhill Play Centre on Thursdays from 7pm to 9pm and on Saturdays at Drumchapel Table Tennis Club in Drumry Road.

All equipment and coaching is provided. The classes are funded by Glasgow Community and Safety Services (GCSS), CashBack for Communities, Glasgow Life and BADMINTONscotland.

Twenty-eight young people also recently competed in the first CashBack tournament at the Cockburn Centre in Bogmoor Place, Glasgow. Prizes were presented for the team with the most shots in a rally, the fastest time in the fitness challenge, the person who could do the most keepie ups as well as those who won their box league in half court singles.

The winners are pictured after the event.
