Glasgow Community and Safety Services – Your Area

South East

Glasgow Community and Safety Services is committed to tackling antisocial behaviour across the city. Our dedicated team of staff work closely with communities and partner agencies in your area to ensure local solutions to local issues.

Here are just a few of the initiatives going on in your area:

Govanhill Action Plan

GCSS is working in partnership with a variety of services as part of the Neighbourhood Management approach. Four Sub Groups have been tasked with driving forward action plans tackling issues relating to community safety, children and young people, housing and employment, and training. GCSS chairs the Community Safety and Security Sub Group.

Castlemilk Action Plan

A problematic area was identified within the Castlemilk neighbourhood and partners were brought together to deliver services in a co-ordinated way to address issues such as street drinking, youth disorder, environmental concerns, home safety and fear of crime.

Pollokshields Action Plan

As a response to problems identified by both the local community and Elected Members, a Day of Action was organised in the Pollolshields East neighbourhood. The purpose of this day was to work in partnership with Strathclyde Police and Glasgow City Council’s Land and Environmental Services to provide community reassurance through high visibility patrols, take enforcement measures where appropriate, and gather further intelligence to tackle the antisocial behaviour being experienced by the community. A Gangs Programme is in the early stages of being developed in partnership with Youth Community Support Agency, Strathclyde Police, Glasgow Sout East Regeneration Agency, South East Community Health and Care Partnership and Culture and Sport Glasgow.

STUFF for Young People

We provide a range of opportunities for children and young adults, which generally take place at identified peak times for antisocial behaviour such as evenings and weekends. Our mobile youth resources include, among others, the state-of-the-art multimedia STUFF bus and street sports such as Footie STUFF and Basketball STUFF, which bring sports into your community. These resources provide an opportunity for young people to get involved in constructive activities. To find out more about what is going on in your area go to our STUFF page.
